3000 Watt Generators – Which Are Best?

Keeping your equipment, tools, appliances, and devices all powered up when you’re on the go can be difficult. In order to do so, you need to ensure that you’ve got access to a good portable generator.

A 3000-watt is a very favored category of generator size, mainly because they can provide a lot of power like larger generators can, but still manage to be just as portable and lightweight as some of their smaller and less powerful counterparts.

The vast majority of 3000-watt generators available are inverter generators. An inverter is an especially important feature to make sure is installed in a generator of this size. The main reason for this is the down to the fact that you’ll most likely want to plug in small, sensitive devices to the generator.

Smaller, more sensitive devices require power that’s suitable for them. This is power with absolute minimal harmonic distortion.

To make it as easy as possible to find the best 3000-watt generator for your needs, we’ve compiled a list of the finest. For each product, we’ll examine exactly what we like about the generator, how much power it’s able to output, as well as the points which we believe could be improved.

We’ll also take a look at how efficient each unit is, in terms of how many hours they are able to run for from how many liters of fuel. We’ll also look at how much noise each generator outputs, and generally how refined they are.

Hopefully, after reading our post, you’ll have a better idea of which 3000-watt generator is best suited to your needs. Perhaps, you’ll even realize that you don’t need as powerful a unit as 3000-watts, or that you need more!

Honda EU3000iS

Honda is a very well-known brand, and as is the EU3000iS that is made by Honda.

The EU3000iS is a powerful 3000-watt generator, with a running output of 2800 watts. This generator isn’t just suitable however for powering large and powerful appliances. It’s fitted with an inverter, which means that the power from it can be used directly with smaller devices.

The EU3000iS is a very refined unit. It’s extremely quiet and only weighs 131 pounds too. It can be moved easily by two people to any location at which it’s needed. If there aren’t two people available to move the generator, it’s easy for one person to move using the wheel-kit that can be fitted to the generator.

The EU3000iS has the option for parallel connection too – great if the power that the EU3000iS has isn’t enough. You can easily connect another one to the unit, and gain a large total power output.

Key Features

  • 3000W Surge Power
  • 2800W Running Power
  • Very Refined – at is quitest, the EU3000iS operates at a tiny 49dB
  • Fuel Efficient  – the Ec-Throttle that is in the EU3000iS means that it can run very efficiently, for up to 20 hours

  • Expensive

Champion Power Equipment 75537i

The 75537i from Champion is a powerful, yet portable unit. It’s one of the best generators in the 3000W power class, and as always, Champion Power Equipment has made this unit a very safe generator to use indeed.

The 75537i has 3100 starting watts and a running wattage of 2800 watts. It’s also very fuel-efficient – when under a quarter load, it will keep running for 8 hours from just one fuel tank.

Although the generator does weigh in at 95 lbs in weight, it comes as standard with a pulling handle and wheel kit. Moving the 75537i around is very easy indeed. The wheels that are fitted to the bottom of the unit are extremely durable and can be moved over different terrain without getting flat.

There are numerous uses for the 75537i. For example, it would serve well for a generator being used for tailgating – it has more than enough power. It’s also a great generator for taking camping, or for using alongside an RV for example.

It’s a refined unit that runs at only 58 decibels. It’s got an inverter fitted too, which means the power that’s output by the 75537i is of very high-quality with minimal harmonic distortion. It’s therefore just as suitable for use with small devices and appliances as it is for use with large pieces of equipment. It’s a very versatile unit indeed.

Key Features

  • Starting wattage of 3100 watts
  • Continuous wattage of 2800 watts

Briggs & Stratton 30545 P3000

Briggs & Stratton are well-known for making very high-quality products. Ever since its establishment, Briggs & Stratton have developed new concepts in many areas of engines and power generation. The P3000 is certainly a representation of this knowledge and innovation.

The 30545 P3000 from Briggs & Stratton is a powerful unit. It’s got a maximum power output of 3000W and a running output of 2600 watts. It’s got sufficient power to keep a number of small appliances going at the same time, or a couple of larger ones.

The P3000 is also RV-Ready – it’s got a socket that adapted just for this.

This Briggs & Stratton unit, whilst weighing in at 96 pounds, is also very portable. It comes provided with a handle and wheels, making pulling the generator around very easy.

The fuel-efficiency of the P3000 is pretty impressive too, being able to keep going for more than 9 hours when under 25% load, from just a single 1.5-gallon fuel tank.

Being a Briggs & Stratton generator, the P3000 is not short of fancy features. It’s fitted with an LCD screen on its control panel that shows the amount of energy that the generator is outputting at any one time, as well as an estimation of operational time remaining in relation to how much fuel is left.

If you’re interested in the Briggs & Stratton P3000, we’ve included it in our review of the best RV generators too.

Key Features

  • 3000 watts maximum power
  • 2600 watts continuous power
  • Efficient – automatic idle control and an efficient engine ensures that the P3000 can run for almost 10 hours

Conclusion

The Briggs & Stratton P3000 is a great generator that’s RV-ready. It’s very efficient and can be connected in a=parallel with another Briggs & Stratton unit for added power. We love that the P3000 comes with added features such as an informative LCD display, too. At less than $900, the P3000 is a unit that offers true value-for-money too.

The Champion 75537I is another favorite of ours. It’s very well-priced and is crammed full of safety features. We love the fact that it’s got a remote starter fitted too – not a feature usually found on generators in this power band. However, it’s not quite as efficient as some of its competitors and doesn’t come with a 240V outlet.

In our opinion, the Honda EU3000iS is the best 3kW generator that you could buy. Even though its quality and features are a but more costly, it’s more than worth it in our opinion. It is easily the quietest gas-powered generator that we have reviewed. The EU3000is offers an extremely refined and silent experience and great build quality. It’s a durable and reliable generator.
